Carlsberg Danish Pilsner
I think I might have tried this one before, or possibly I'm confusing it with Carling. I know I have had Carling, because it is the one beer I remember not liking. So it's time to see if Carlsberg is better than Carling or if I can just ignore any beer starting with "Carl" from now on.
Details
- Pilsner, 5% ABV
- 568ml can
From the website:
At Carlsberg, the pursuit of better beer is in our DNA. More than 100 years after our founder J.C. Jacobsen mastered the art of brewing great Pilsner, we're still looking for ways to improve our beer. Our perfectly balanced Danish Pilsner beer is wonderfully crisp and refreshing, with a full flavour and a distinctive hoppy aroma. Skål!
Expectations
I don't know if I have had this one before or not, but it's a Pilsner lager so I'm expecting something refreshing even if it isn't particularly tasty.
Experience
It's really yellow, with very little head and quite large bubbles. The colour surprised me a bit, I wasn't expecting it to be so bright.
It doesn't seem to smell of anything at all. When my glass had got to about 1/3 full I tried swirling it around and had a good sniff, but I still couldn't smell anything.
The taste is bitter and with a citrusy acidic component. There isn't much else to it.
If you handed me a glass of this and said it was water with yellow food colouring, I wouldn't argue with you. I wouldn't want to drink it either.
Verdict
2/5 : It's not completely awful, but I don't like it.
